Experience THE FEST” in Norderstedt: fun, energy and enjoyment!

In Norderstedt, August 3rd is dedicated to “DAS FEST”, an event organized by the Stadtwerke Norderstedt Group. From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., the city park will be a venue for families and interested parties of all ages. The aim of the festival is to raise awareness of the topics of water, energy and renewable energies, in the spirit of digital engagement and education.

But what exactly can visitors expect? There is a wide range of offerings for every age group. A main event will be the interactive science show “Street Physics”, where young and old can experience the fascinating mysteries of physics up close. For the more adventurous, there is an inflatable race track for remote-controlled cars and an exciting tree climbing activity. Things will also be musically exciting: a water orchestra will provide unforgettable sound experiences. Hugo, the cycling robot, will also be a source of amazement, while craft activities with bottle caps and other materials offer creative freedom. Your physical well-being is also taken care of, with a wide range of dining options. And best of all: entry is free! For further information, you can visit the Stadtwerke Norderstedt website, which can be found here.

Sustainability in focus

A central theme of the event is renewable energies, which are increasingly in focus not only in Norderstedt but throughout Germany. According to the Federal Environment Agency, 22.4% of gross final energy consumption will be covered by renewable energies in 2024. A goal for 2030 is to increase to 41%. What is particularly noteworthy is that the share of renewable energies in electricity consumption will already be 54.4% in 2024, which corresponds to an impressive increase of 3% compared to the previous year.

Norderstedt municipal utilities are actively involved in this area. Interested citizens who would like to install a photovoltaic system should know that systems over 600 watts must be registered with the municipal utilities four or eight weeks before they are put into operation. Registration is easy and convenient electronically via the specialist company for photovoltaic systems. Network compatibility tests are also necessary for larger systems, which can take more time depending on the complexity of the connection variant. It is recommended that you submit your registration documents in a timely manner to ensure smooth processing.

Renewable energies in detail

The most important renewable energy sources in Germany show the great potential of sustainable energy production. In 2024, 517 billion kWh were provided from renewable sources, of which 55% came from electricity and 38% from heat. Wind energy, biomass and photovoltaics play the largest role. Even if the road is still long, the progress made in recent years cannot be denied. The installed output of photovoltaic systems increased by 16% compared to the previous year.

In summary, “THE FEST” in Norderstedt is not only an event for the whole family, but also a platform to address the important issues of the future. Be there when the city park becomes a center for energy, environment and commitment on August 3rd!
