New coach, new luck: Hansa Rostock's U23 starts preparations!
FC Hansa Rostock started its summer preparation on June 23, 2025 with the first training session for the U23s in the Volksstadion. The new coach Christian Tiffert was also there, following in the footsteps of Uwe Speidel, who was not renewed. Tiffert brings a lot of experience, not only as a former Bundesliga professional, but also from his previous positions as assistant and head coach at Chemnitzer FC.
A total of 16 field players and two goalkeepers took part in the first training session. Among those taking part was Albin Berisha, who, after being transferred to the U23 team, trained with a face mask to protect a jaw injury. According to transfermarkt.de, Berisha has a contract until 2027 and is one of the team's hopes.
A breath of fresh air in the U23
Christian Tiffert is looking forward to the challenge at Hansa Rostock. His goal is to train young talents and offer them prospects. Michael Meier, who works in the club's youth department, also emphasized this and highlighted Tiffert's commitment to integrating young players. The trainer is currently taking part in the DFB's 71st Pro License course, which he would like to complete at the end of 2025. The change in the coaching bench could give the U23 fresh impetus and bring new energy that is necessary for a successful season.
The U23s finished last season in a solid fourth place in the NOFV-Oberliga Nord and could exceed their goals for the coming season with the new line-up. With a gap of 14 points to league leaders BFC Preussen, only gradually building a competitive team is likely to be successful in the long term.
Preparations for the new season
In order to optimally prepare for the coming season, four test matches have already been planned for the next few weeks: on July 4th against FSV Schorfheide Joachimsthal, on July 5th against TSV 1860 Stralsund, on July 12th against SV Barth and finally on July 19th against FSV Luckenwalde. The new league season starts on the first weekend in August and all eyes will be on Hansa's U23s.
The youth team can rely on reinforcements from external newcomers. Marc Bölter from Eintracht Norderstedt is the only new addition for the new season, while five players from the U19 team are joining the team. With this mix of new and proven potential, Hansa Rostock can look optimistically to the challenges ahead.
The mood in the team and the new coaching team could be crucial to placing the U23s back in the top region of the table. As football shows again and again, a breath of fresh air can often work wonders if the quality of the squad is right and motivation remains high. Fans and those responsible for the club are excited to see how the team will develop under Tiffert's leadership and whether they can achieve the goals they have set.
