10,000 bus angels in Pinneberg and Segeberg: Together against violence!

Pinneberg, Deutschland - In northern Germany, the “Bus-Engel-Violence Prevention” project has reached a considerable milestone: 10,000 students have been trained since the start in 2003. The Hamburg Verkehrsverbund (HVV) informs that this program particularly appeals to students from the 7th, 8th and 9th classes in the Pinneberg and Segeberg districts. The aim of the project is to prevent violent clashes and strengthen the social skills of the young people.

But what does the practical implementation look like? The students receive training in various learning locations - be it in schools or in buses they have brought with them, which include both theoretical and practical elements. Here, great importance is placed on the imparting of civil courage, respect and tolerance. The topic of bullying is also not spared because a harmonious coexistence in public space is to be promoted. This means a peaceful and respectful coexistence, especially in trains and buses.

extensive training and objectives

The program comprises 9 to 12 hours, which are distributed over 3 to 4 days. It consists of different modules that are prepared age -appropriate. The content is not only tailored to your own school, but are also based on the educational plans in Schleswig-Holstein. This includes important topics such as consumer education or dealing with challenges in a changing society.

The training courses are completely free and aim to convey competence and self -confidence to the participants. Among other things, they are sensitized to various forms of violence and learning to recognize conflict situations at an early stage and deal constructively with it. Another important aspect is the reflection of your own behavior in order to reduce prejudices and promote respectful coexistence.

cooperation partner and supportive measures

The program is supported by numerous partners, including by the Bad Segeberg police department and the North Accident Fund. In addition, the district councilors of the Pinneberg and Segeberg districts carry the patronage over the project. An important aspect of the initiative is also the cooperation with other projects and measures for violence prevention that are carried out nationwide

Overall, it can be seen that the “bus angel” project is a successful approach to bring young people closer to the importance of civil courage and social responsibility. Such initiatives are of great importance for the prevention of violence among young people and represent a decisive component in the education system. While discussions about youth violence and the role of the media stop, the project sets important impulses to promote non -violent behavior and to shape respectful coexistence.
