Hospice training 2026: Information evenings in Wedel and Pinneberg are coming up!
Finally! Preparations for the new hospice training in the Pinneberg district are already in full swing. From January to early April 2026, adults will have the opportunity to learn the valuable role of a hospice companion. An information evening is just around the corner: the program will be presented on November 24th, 2025 at 6:00 p.m. in Wedel and on November 28th, 2025 at 6:00 p.m. in Pinneberg. Anke Stilken Bäumer has taken over the management and encourages everyone interested to deal with the topics of dying and accompaniment.
What is behind this training? The participants should develop their own way of dealing with dying people and their relatives. This is particularly important because sensitive support can provide comfort in difficult times. The training is aimed at adults of all ages and is also suitable for working people, trainees and students. Just call 04101 8565510 to register or receive further information. You can find out more about this at www.hospizdienst-pinneberg.de/schulungskurs.
Valuable volunteer support
The training to become a hospice companion prepares participants comprehensively for their voluntary work. It impresses with its combination of knowledge, attitude and exchange, supported by experienced coordinators. The tasks are varied and include giving time, listening and simply being there. There are no nursing tasks on the program - the focus is clearly on presence and support.
The content of the training is just as enriching. Communication, closeness and distance as well as spirituality and self-care are discussed. The duration of the preparatory course is around 80 to 100 hours, spread over evenings or weekends. A crowning achievement is often a ceremonial commission or a certificate.
The skills of volunteering
But what exactly do participants learn? You will learn how important it is to be there for others in difficult moments. Many volunteers report touching experiences in caring for the dying, which are often found to be enriching and deeply moving. Examples like the Celler model show how practical and effective this training is and how it also supports coordinators in preparing volunteers.
The training courses are a great opportunity to not only expand your own skills, but also to support others during one of the most difficult times in their lives. Anyone who is interested should not miss this opportunity.
Something big is also emerging in another area: the presenter of “Sat.1 Breakfast Television”, Benjamin Bieneck, has announced his departure. This happened during a live broadcast on October 31, 2025, where he informed his viewers about it. During his time in television, Bieneck was known for his coverage of celebrities and major events, including the coronation of King Charles III. At the beginning of 2021 he also had a long battle with cancer, but he has gained many valuable experiences. Evening newspaper Munich reports on his touches and thoughts about the next phase of his life.
