November 15, 2025 was a very special evening for the THW Pinneberg local branch. At the end of the year, the members met to review the past few months. A review of the events and operations of the year was given to numerous people present. Thanks to the special commitment of the helpers, not only were the challenges addressed, but numerous awards were also given. Two long-time THW helpers were pleased to have their impressive 60 years of membership recognized. For the first time in the history of the local association, a member was honored for a proud 65 years - a new form of honor that is now also incorporated into the THW tradition. Previously, these recognitions were only given in 10-year increments, but now the particularly loyal members are shown the appreciation they deserve in this generous form. Pinneberg fire department reports that there was a consistently positive atmosphere among those present and many stories from decades of membership were shared.

But that wasn't all! Tuesday was dedicated to further training: a technical advisor from the THW gave an insightful lecture for the members of the ELW group. Such training is essential to continuously expand the knowledge and skills of the helpers and to be optimally prepared for future missions.

Training with the fire brigade

On Thursday evening it became practical again. Some THW helpers took part in the annual stress exercise together with breathing apparatus wearers from the fire department. The group worked in mixed teams, which not only promotes teamwork, but also intensifies the exchange between both organizations. This shows once again how important close cooperation is in terms of civil protection.

Since then, the organization has developed into an indispensable institution in civil defense and in dealing with major accidents.
