On Monday evening, September 2nd, 2025, there was a serious accident on the A23 towards Hamburg, near the Tornesch junction. At 7:45 a.m., a truck collided with a car as the truck driver attempted to make way for a car entering the highway. He overlooked another vehicle that was driving in the right lane at a speed of 180 km/h. The collision was so severe that the highway's central barrier was severely damaged, resulting in the highway being temporarily closed. However, traffic was reopened shortly before 10 p.m., as NDR reported.
