She also actively collected votes by campaigning for her nomination in nursing schools and at events such as the Hamburger Schlagermove. She received support not only from colleagues and residents, but also from local businesses such as an Italian restaurant and an ice cream parlor. Incidentally, it was her son Leon who, without her knowledge, advertised for her at his school and to passers-by.
