The importance of the bicycle in everyday life

Patricia Römer, who was recognized as a city cycling star in Wedel, emphasized the important role of the bicycle as a means of everyday transport. She emphasized that it's not just about sporting achievements, but about sustainable transport in our city. Climate protection and sustainability are at the top of the agenda. According to the information from Stadtradeln, the campaign is intended to help motivate as many people as possible to cycle easily. Because every kilometer counts – whether with a Pedelec or a classic bike.

With regard to cycling, experts estimate that up to 30% of car journeys in metropolitan areas could be shifted to cycling. This is not just about environmental protection, but also about the health of citizens. 30 minutes of moderate exercise every day can reduce the risk of lifestyle diseases and even increase life expectancy, as the Umweltbundesamt explains.

A look at the future

Planning for next year will begin in autumn 2023. The organizers want to use the successes and positive experiences from this year's city cycling to get even more people excited about cycling. The initiative is supported by, among others, the city of Wedel, the Stadtsparkasse Wedel and the ADFC Wedel, to whom Wedel Marketing would like to thank.

At a time when the importance of sustainable mobility is becoming more and more important, such events are of great importance. Cycling is not only an environmentally friendly form of transport, but also promotes health and means a better quality of life in our cities. With the right support, the bicycle could therefore become a serious alternative to motorized transport.
