Two burglaries in Ellerau: Police are looking for witnesses and clues!

Two break-ins occurred in Ellerau on November 25, 2025, causing all sorts of unrest in the tranquil community. The crime scenes are only a kilometer apart and were apparently targeted by the same unknown perpetrators. At around 5:40 p.m., the second burglary in Mittelweg was aborted when the owner came home and caused the burglars to escape. The police are on site and are investigating both cases.

The first break-in was carried out in Lohering between 1:00 p.m. and 5:15 p.m. The perpetrators gained access through a patio door and searched the entire house from the basement to the upper floor. The exact loot is still unclear, but the impression is that the burglars were well prepared. These criminal activities have put the community on alert and the Bad Segeberg Criminal Investigation Department has been activated to collect possible clues.

Police investigations and tips

Police are now looking for witnesses who may have noticed suspicious people or vehicles in the area. Anyone who has information about the break-ins can contact the police on 04101/2020 or via email. The emergency services were alerted immediately after the second break-in, but initially all searches were unsuccessful and no suspicious people could be found, as the press portal reports.

Break-ins in a nationwide context

As Emergency Call Experts show in their latest statistical survey, the problem of home break-ins is not an isolated case. In 2024 there were over 78,000 registered burglaries in Germany, which represents a slight increase compared to the previous year. What is particularly striking is that almost 38% of these burglaries were committed during the day. The average burglary occurs every seven minutes; a fact that also makes the citizens of Ellerau very worried.

The burglary rate is significantly higher, particularly in urban areas, than in rural areas. This increases the need for effective prevention measures. From burglar-resistant doors and windows to alarm systems, the ability to protect yourself has been emphasized time and time again by police and security experts.

The feeling of security in Ellerau could be significantly affected by these incidents. While the criminal investigation continues, it remains to be seen whether the perpetrators can be caught. Residents are encouraged to increase their vigilance and report tips to ensure safety in their neighborhoods.
