Windsurfing action: New one-hour series starts in Northern Germany in 2026!
From the 2026 season, windsurfing fans in northern Germany can look forward to an exciting new development. The 1001grad Events team is expanding the popular “Racer of the Sea” event series with the new one-hour series. This challenge is aimed at windsurfers of all levels and brings a breath of fresh air into the scene. Particularly pleasing: The one-hour series is not only noticed by slalom surfers, but also appeals to a wider audience because it includes classes such as iQFOiL, Techno293, Windsurfer LT and Raceboard. There is something for everyone, whether beginner or professional. Surf magazine reports.
What can be said about the planned venues? In the idyllic regions of Kellenhusen and at the surf festival on Fehmarn, exciting competitions will also take place at four new locations. The locations are:
- Windsurfing Club Dümmersee e.V. (Dümmersee)
- Surf Club Kiel e.V. (Strande)
- Surf Club Flensburg e.V. (Holnis)
- Windsurfing-Club Wittensee-Rendsburg e.V. (Wittensee)
The competition format is simple and accessible. Participants must complete as many laps as possible on a set course within a defined period of time. The placement does not depend on the start time, which makes it even easier for beginners to take part.
Youthful flair and global enthusiasm
A special highlight is the event in Flensburg, which is aimed specifically at windsurfers up to U23. Young people up to U19 have the opportunity to take part in the One-Hour Series and the Racer of the Sea for free, up to a budget of 3,000 euros. After that, the entry fee for young people is just 25 euros per event. This makes participation in these exciting competitions even more attractive for young talents.
The One Hour Series is open to various windsurfing classes including iQFOiL, iQFOiL Youth & Junior, Formula Foil, Techno293, Windsurfer LT, Raceboard and Tandem. At this event, participants can collect valuable points for rankings, which not only ensures competition, but also more fun and exchange among windsurfers.
Looking back at the past year, it becomes clear how important such events are for the windsurfing community. Similar events, such as the UK Windsurfing One Hour Classic in Calshot, were very popular. In strong winds and sunshine, windsurfers and wing foilers took to the start and enjoyed a positive atmosphere with numerous participants. The event was supported by sponsors such as Nik Baker / K66 and Duotone, which also enhanced the culinary scene. Windsurf reports.
The windsurfing scene in Germany
The one-hour series joins Germany's diverse windsurfing scene, which is also characterized by events such as the California Windsurf Cup. This central contest platform offers surfing professionals and beginners the opportunity to compete in various disciplines such as wave riding or racing. The event also includes a colorful supporting program, including shopping and catering stands as well as legendary surfer parties. Windsurf Cup reports.
The mix of excitement, competition and community makes the One Hour Series and Racer of the Sea a great opportunity for all windsurfing enthusiasts. Regional clubs and local surf fans can look forward to an action-packed experience that will further advance the sport of windsurfing.
