Winter chaos in the north: black ice and accidents cause traffic distress!

The winter conditions have Northern Germany firmly under control. On Friday, sleet and snow showers caused chaos on the streets. The situation at Hamburg Airport was just as tense - there were delays and around 20 canceled flights. In Schleswig-Holstein, around 170 weather-related accidents were reported, most of them with sheet metal damage and a few minor injuries.

Strong winds and black ice: dangers throughout the north

The winter storms not only affect road traffic, but also the fire department. Last night there were around 30 calls due to fallen trees caused by the strong wind, which can reach speeds of up to 85 km/h. The German Weather Service continues to warn of slippery conditions and squalls until Saturday morning. Temperatures can drop to as low as -7 degrees, which represents a significant source of danger for many roads.

The A7 and A23 in particular had to be temporarily closed because a layer of ice made the roads impassable. The winter danger is also smoldering in Hesse.
