SPD calls for immediate city bike stations in Cranz and Francop!

Cranz, Deutschland - The SPD Hamburg-Neuenfelde has set itself the goal of improving the popular city bike system from Hamburg to improve the connection of the Elbdörfer Cranz and Francop. In a current advance, the party demands that stations in these districts are quickly set up. This is intended to create a direct connection between these regions and the existing network that currently ends in Neugraben and Neuwiedenthal. This initiative could mean a real boost for cycling in the area, especially for the many visitors who want to change from Altona and Harburg and want to break down directly on bike tours through nature.

The planned city bike stations are to be created at the end points of bus lines 150 in Estebogen (Cranz) and 157 in Hohenwischer Kehre (Francop). This location enables cyclists to start comfortably and to explore popular routes such as the Elberadweg to Lühe or the routes through the Kingdom to Buxtehude. A clear advantage of the new stations would be the flexibility for the residents, without parking spaces in the area that is often overloaded anyway, since the stations can be arranged directly on sidewalks.

Details and advantages of the city cycling offer

The city bike system is on the rise in Hamburg and is enjoying growing popularity, which is not least due to constant investments in the infrastructure. According to the information from Hamburg.de, those responsible plan a full coverage of the city area with a total of 350 stations, where 4,500 bicycles and 70 cargo pedelecs will then be available. The first 30 minutes of use are even free of charge.

Another interesting information is the cargo pedelecs, which are designed for families or for transporting larger goods. These can transport up to 60 kilograms and have to be returned to their original location. This makes the use even more flexible, especially for the residents of districts such as Cranz and Francop, which will benefit from the city bike service in the future.

The way to implement

The initiatives for the introduction of the city cycling system go back to the 1990s. These were launched to reduce car traffic and to counteract the environmental pollution. In 2009 the system was officially introduced, which has been supported since then with 1.5 million euros annually from public funds. The introduction of new stations in Cranz and Francop would not only promote the accessibility of these pretty Elbe villages, but also further increase the use of environmentally friendly transport in Hamburg.

Registration for the use of the city cycling service can be easily via the city bike Hamburg app or on the website. There is also the possibility to borrow the bicycles by simply scanning a QR code. The bicycle rental system has proven to be very efficient and user -friendly and shapes the cityscape of Hamburg, especially in invigorated frequented areas.

The demand for environmentally friendly alternatives is growing steadily, which not only has a positive effect on air quality, but also offers more opportunities for citizens to actively explore their city. If the plans of the SPD Hamburg-Neuenfelde are implemented, this could be a significant step towards a more bike-friendly and more environmentally conscious region.
