Tobias Müller: Social housing in focus for Schwaan!
The mayoral election is due in Schwaan on November 16, 2025, and with Tobias Müller there is a completely new candidate in the race. The 38-year-old father of two has a long-standing connection to Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, where he has lived for over 20 years. Born in Eisenhüttenstadt and moved to Rostock to study, Müller brings with him an exciting mix of personal and professional experience. Since 2012 he has been working as a research assistant in the state parliamentary group of the Left, where he looks after topics such as the economy, work, tourism and digitalization. He was particularly active in the state party executive committee of the Left between 2022 and 2024.
His previous political activity could prove valuable, as he has been an active member of the grassroots organization of the Left in Schwaan for three years. Müller, who felt motivated to run for office by the children's festival and the spirit of optimism in the community, has taken up the issue of social housing. “Affordable housing is a fundamental right,” he says, criticizing the current trend of selling municipal property to private investors. Instead, he would like to promote social housing construction and focus on leasing.

The incumbent mayor Mathias Schauer is currently deciding whether he should run for a third term, depending on the support of his voting community, the UWS. So it remains exciting to see whether Müller and Schauer will compete for the people's votes. The application deadline for candidates ends on September 2, 2025, and the Schwaners can prepare for a dynamic election campaign.
How voters will decide at this crucial time remains to be seen. Tobias Müller is ready to take on the challenge and would like to bring a breath of fresh air into politics in Schwaan. A year ago, mayoral elections had already taken place in several communities in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, where Steffen Rißmann, for example, received an impressive 58.1 percent of the vote. The outcome of the next elections could have a significant impact on the future development of the region.
The political currents in Schwaan are being carefully followed and the hope for a fair but exciting election campaign remains. The people of Schwan are cordially invited to cast their vote for the future of their city.
