Water jumper club Rostock: Challenges and successes of the talent!
Rostock, Deutschland - On June 19, 2025, the Rostock water jumper club has the honor of being visited in the NDR program campaign "United in the north". ndr reports that the moderators Julia Westlake and Philipp Schmid will be on site in order to appreciate the voluntary work of the association. The club has around 600 members, of which around 200 active performance jumpers who have represented the club with a lot of passion for 25 years.
What is above all appreciated? The training intensity! While the younger members jump to their passion four times a week, the squad athletes even train over 20 hours a week. Dry training is not neglected here: About half of the training period are dedicated to acrobatics, strength training and stretching to prepare optimally. Jette Müller stands out among the athletes, who successfully participated in the Olympic Games in Paris in 2024. Finn Awe also brought a lot of fun to the club by winning two gold medals at the 2024 Junior World Championships in Rio.
a big challenge
Unfortunately, the Rostock water jumper club is facing a big challenge: the Rostock Neptune Schwimmhalle, which serves as a training center, is being renovated. ndr that the 25-meter basin is closed from summer 2025 to April 2026. Until the renovation work has been completed, the association must dodge to Berlin, Dresden, Halle or Leipzig. Of course, this represents a considerable burden for the association that is dependent on its training center.
optimal conditions for the sport
The situation is no different in Berlin. The Berlin Swimming Association ( BSV ) is actively committed to jumping in water. Since 1991 there has been a federal base and a state performance center that ensures optimal training conditions for the athletes. With a good team of coaches and modern facilities, work is being carried out on the promotion of young talent, which is considered exemplary. The local clubs also contribute to the competitive activity and the public appearance of water jumping in Berlin.
The developments in water jumping show that the heartbeat of sport is firmly noticeable in Rostock, Halle and Berlin. Engagement, passion and often the will to overcome challenges make the athletes strong, even if the framework conditions are not always ideal.
