Bahn carousel turns on: Wismar gets faster connections!

The harbor days in Wismar are a real highlight for the region, and this is not only shown in the large number of visitors. Thousands of guests flocked to the Hanseatic city to enjoy the diverse program. Not only was the maritime tradition celebrated, but also a work of art that attracted visitors to the Phantertechnikum. The metal relief "circulation of the water", which comes from the former GDR swimming pool, can currently be seen there and tells the history of water in an impressive way.

Another exciting topic that moves the region is the massive job offensive of TKMS in Wismar. The renowned shipbuilding group plans to increase the workforce to 1,500 employees by 2029. There are currently 100 people employed and another 100 are to be added by the end of this year. Over the next few years, 300 new jobs will be planned by 2026. The boom is favored by the global upgrade and full order books, which opens up new development opportunities for the city.

railway line between Lübeck and Schwerin

A future -oriented project is also in the traffic area: Deutsche Bahn started the expansion of the rail connection between Lübeck and Bad Kleinen today. A total of around 63 kilometers of railway line will be modernized and electrified by 2028. These measures, which include the conversion of the Schönberg stations (Meckl) and Grieben (Meckl), aim to shorten the travel times and to improve the timing in local transport. At the end of the project, the travel time between Lübeck and Schwerin will drop from 1 hour 20 minutes to just 53 minutes. Ostsee Zeitung that a new connection curve in Bad Kleinen is also planned.

In addition, digital signal boxes are installed in Bobitz and Gallenin to promote digitization in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. Alexander Kaczmarek, DB group representative for the region, emphasizes the efforts to increase the reliability and attractiveness of rail transport. These comprehensive measures are part of the entire project in Germany, which aims at optimal traffic care. cultural life in Wismar

The cultural life in Wismar also blooms. The 35th summer season of the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania Festival was opened with an impressive concert in the Georgenkirche, conducted by Herbert Blomstedt with the Elbphilharmonie Orchester. By September 14th, the organizers have planned 136 appearances at 96 venues, which significantly enriched the cultural offer in the region.

and not to forget the consecration of youth, which is currently celebrated in Wismar. A total of 168 young people from Wismar, the island of Poel and Neuburg have held their celebrations in the theater. Further celebrations are planned in Northwest Mecklenburg, with the last on June 21, which continues the tradition of the youth consecration in the region.

There is also great interest in the event "Rnd on site" with Angela Merkel, which will take place on July 1st in Schwerin Castle. Ticket demand is high and it is already clear that readers and discussions with prominent guests will be up for discussion. In all of these events and developments, Wismar and the surrounding area seems to be on a very good way and to flourish both culturally and economically.
