Delmenhorst in change: historic city tour at the water tower!

On Saturday, June 21st, it will be exciting again in Delmenhorst when the historic city tour "Delmenhorst is changing over time". Organized by Michaela Schulze, the tour begins at 2 p.m. at the imposing water tower, which is not only a symbol of the city, but is also deeply rooted in Delmenhorst's history. The event offers everyone interested the opportunity to learn more about the development of this city, which was once a count residence and has changed into a modern center. The tour lasts two hours and illuminates the city history from 1247 to the present, with a special focus on important buildings from the Wilhelminian era as well as the industrial history and the unique culture of the region.

The participation fee for adults is 6 euros, while children up to 14 years of age can take part in the accompaniment of an adult free of charge. Registrations are accepted at the tourist information at Langen Straße 10, by email at shop@dwfg.de or by phone at 0 42 21/99 22 99.

look at the landmark

A real highlight of the tour is the water tower, which was completed in 1910 and measures a height of 44 meters. Originally intended as a supplier and memory for the water supply, the tower embodies a progressive Delmenhorst. It was used for more than a century of its original function until it was no longer needed in 2010 due to increased network pressure. With a tank volume of 500 cubic meters, the water tower is one of the most impressive buildings in the city and can be climbed to enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view of Delmenhorst. It is open every first and third Sunday of the month from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and can be visited by prior agreement.

discovery tour with the Wunderline

Delmenhorst has even more to offer! From 2024, the cross -border train connection "Wunderline" between Groningen and Bremen will be introduced. As part of this project, the free "Wunderline Go" app is introduced, which offers augmented reality and 3D animations. With this app, visitors can discover 15 special places in Germany and the Netherlands, including Delmenhorst. One of the recommended tours leads from the train station to the north-wet area, one of the largest industrial monuments in Europe, and can be mastered well on foot on a distance of 1500 meters. For further details on the project and the routes, information is available on the Wunderline homepage.
