Revolution in knowledge management: AI as the key for companies!
In today's fast-paced business world, knowledge is the golden asset that modern companies cannot do without. But what about access to this valuable knowledge? Access to relevant information is often a challenge that poses major hurdles for many organizations. Confusing folder structures, outdated wikis and knowledge silos contribute to valuable information remaining hidden. This not only leads to wrong decisions, but also to demotivation of employees, who are frustrated because knowledge is often not available where it is needed, as originstamp.com reports.
However, an online impulse from the Lüneburg-Wolfsburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IHKLW) on July 24th from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. offers possible solutions. Under the title “Building AI systems for knowledge management: CustomGPTs, Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) and infrastructure decisions,” the event is aimed at small and medium-sized companies that want to take their first steps in the field of artificial intelligence (AI). Participation is free of charge, but registration is required at www.ihklw.de/impuls-KI-systeme.
Practical applications of AI in knowledge management
Speaker Paulina Merkel from the Mittelstand-Digital Zentrum Hannover will show participants how AI systems can help to achieve increased efficiency in knowledge transfer processes. This includes building custom language models, also known as CustomGPTs, as well as using Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) to provide targeted information. There are often technical hurdles in the way of all of these topics, but with a well-founded introduction, companies can make great progress in knowledge management.
As the celler-presse.de highlights, the content of the event is specifically aimed at participants with initial basic technical knowledge coordinated. The goal is clear: Companies should learn how they can use AI specifically to optimize their knowledge strategies.
The role of large language models
A central building block of modern knowledge organization are Large Language Models (LLMs). These advanced AI models analyze, generate and translate texts based on large amounts of data. Although LLMs offer many benefits, such as optimizing working hours by up to 19 percent and identifying outdated information, they also come with challenges. Incorrect information and bias from training data can negatively affect the quality of the results, as umwerk.com explains.
In order to avoid further risks, entry into LLM-supported knowledge management should ideally be designed through focused pilot projects that use the dynamics and flexibility of this technology. Important use cases could include automation of documentation, internal knowledge assistants or summarizing meeting minutes.
Overall, it shows that the potential of AI in knowledge management is enormous. But without the right strategies and the courage to change, it will be difficult to uncover this treasure. The upcoming online impulse from the IHKLW could be the right starting signal for many companies towards a successful AI future, which not only conserves resources but can also increase employee motivation.
