From June 27th to 29th June 2025, Bad Essen becomes the setting for a very special festival: The shooting club Bad Essen celebrates a proud 185 years of club history. On Sunday, a family day with a wide range of activities for young and old, including a parade from the church square to Schützenhalle at 2 p.m. and from 3 p.m.

The shooting club can look back on an eventful story that extends until 1840. After the Napoleonic wars, the first shooting clubs developed, the origins of which can be found in medieval cities. In the first protocol book entries from 1860, the number of members of 90 was documented. The shooting sport was a central element right from the start, and the shooting festival quickly developed into a climax in the social calendar of the community.

The first flag of the association was purchased in 1861 and since then the royal chain has adorned the names of all rifle kings. Initially, the festivals took place every two to three years, but from the turn of the century, an annual implementation established itself. In recent decades, the association has experienced some interruptions, for example through wars, but also through Corona pandemic, which led to cancel in 2020 and 2021. A restart took place in 2022, which brings new impetus to the traditional event.

The shooting club Bad Essen is not only a place of tradition these days, but has also positioned itself in a future -oriented manner. The team around the new board places great emphasis on a connecting cooperation, which has been a goal since its foundation. The shooting range at the Peace height has been repaired in recent years, and a modern air rifle system was opened in 1997. A new club flag was purchased to preserve the old flag from 1861 and to carry the spirit of the association into the future.
