Discover the village development: bike tour through the Peiner region on August 16!

The Peiner Land presents itself in August: On August 16, a guided bike tour starts, which illustrates the progress of village development in the channel-fuhse-region-West. The event is organized by the working group on village development and the city of Peine and begins at 10 a.m. at the village park in Vöhrum. Cycling enthusiasts and interested parties are cordially invited to take part in the approximately 15 -kilometer tour, which will take about four hours. Only requirement? Good mood!

The tour initially leads to the school yard of the Vöhrum primary school, where progress has been made with support from the village development program in recent years. The path continues to a newly designed playground in Berkum, which was also renovated from funding. Such projects are essential for strengthening the village community and contribute to the quality of life.

The next stop on the bike tour leads the participants to an impressive private project in Schwicheldt: the conversion of a former cowshed. Such innovative approaches show how creative ideas and targeted implementations can be transformed into new meeting places. The highlight of the tour is the adventure memory of the Domain Hofschwicheldt, a former grain store that was completed last year. Thanks to the funding from the leader program, this memory now shines as an attractive venue.

Through programs such as leaders, the development of rural spaces in the Peiner Land has been actively supported since 2014. In recent years, the Peiner Land has received funding of a total of 2.4 million euros in order to implement projects to improve living conditions in the villages. The strategy for this was already defined in a regional development concept in 2014 and includes the establishment of a local action group (LAG), which is responsible for deciding on the eligibility of projects.

A central funding instrument is the village development program, which is currently used in 193 village regions with a total of 798 villages in Lower Saxony. The aim of the program is to set incentives for village communities, initiate their own projects and define their development goals. Examples from other counties show that a lot is possible from renovation measures to new services for older people.

The bike tour ends with a cozy snack on the manor, where an exchange about the successes in the village region will take place. These events not only offer the villagers a space for networking, but also promote a strong sense of community.
