Business evening in Uelzen: Bin and flower in a gripping dialogue!
The first business evening in the Uelzen district hall took place on June 13, 2025 under the motto “Grill & Dialog” and attracted around 100 participants from companies, politics and administration. Organized by District Administrator Dr. Heiko Blume, this event offers a platform for exchange between various actors in the region. The evening's prominent guest was Lower Saxony's new economics minister, Grant Hendrik Tonne, who had only taken over his office from Olaf Lies in May. Blume praised the opportunity to discuss ideas and suggestions in a relaxed atmosphere.
Tonne, who was born in Bad Oeynhausen and studied law at the University of Bremen, emphasized the importance of dialogue in order to overcome common challenges, such as the construction of the A39 or the development of an energy-efficient infrastructure. Reducing bureaucratic barriers and transparent processes are particularly important with regard to the promotion of green energy. This supports the overarching goals of Lower Saxony, which is to become climate neutral by 2035 and is already placing a clear focus on renewable energies.
A strong network
During the evening, Blume emphasized the importance of such events for the local economy and local politics. He presented Tonne with a gift basket with regional products, a sign of welcome and thanks for his commitment. The participants took the opportunity to exchange ideas and make valuable contacts until late in the evening. This underlines that in Uelzen the exchange between business and politics is not only desirable, but also necessary.
Minister Tonne, who previously worked as Minister of Education and also gained experience in other political roles, is aware of the challenges that lie ahead for Lower Saxony. “A common approach is needed to achieve the climate goals and at the same time maintain the economic strength of the region,” said Tonne. In this context, investments in infrastructure and the promotion of sustainable energy sources are essential.
Sustainable future for crafts
A particularly important aspect that politics and business would like to focus on in the future is dual vocational training. In order to train specialists for future challenges, dedicated programs to support small and medium-sized companies are planned in the Chamber Cloth. There is a clear focus on the areas of crafts, education and health professions. Sustainability and a modern working environment should go hand in hand in order to create as many attractive jobs as possible.
The discussions and exchanges in Uelzen show that the path to a sustainable future has already begun. Because one thing is clear: a breath of fresh air is blowing in the region, and with good cooperation, many obstacles can be overcome.
