Willy-Brandt-Platz: successfully completed-city thanks for patience
The city of Wolfsburg can now breathe a sigh of relief: At Willy-Brandt-Platz, the ceiling renovation work has been completed on time and without special occurrences. The necessary work could be successfully completed within just two weeks, reports press-service.de . The fresh top layer ensures that the roadway can now be used permanently. City building councilor Kai-Uwe Hirschheide emphasizes how important such renovations are for the long-term preservation of the street infrastructure. He thanks all road users for their understanding during the full closure.
The first measures on Willy-Brandt-Platz took place in the weeks earlier to avoid possible overlaps with the current renovation of Heinrich-Nordhoff-Straße. From June 10th to June 16th, this work was carried out under the edition that buses could not start the main train station during this time. A detour to the ZOB was signposted for this, while the short-term parking lot was temporarily used as a bus parking lot, the city of Wolfsburg explains on its website wolfsburg.de .
outlook for further renovation phases
But that was only the beginning: on July 7th it will continue with further construction work on Heinrich-Nordhoff-Straße. It is planned to renovate the section between Lessingstraße and Saarstraße and the confluence with Oststraße. During this work, the traffic is moved into the oncoming lane.
At the same time, ceiling renovation is on Braunschweiger Straße, between Siemensstraße and Röntgenstraße. Here, too, there will be a single -lane traffic routing via the opposite lane. Access to Röntgenstrasse is closed during the measures, but the detours are well signposted. Preparations for this work begin on July 3 and 4, with one trace each being blocked in both directions. The following applies to the theater car park: From July 7th to August 5th, this parking lot will not be accessible due to the construction work.
turning point and sustainable planning
These renovations are part of a larger strategy: mobility in cities is to be rethought. The Federal Ministry of Digital and Transport (BMDV) emphasizes the mobility turnaround. It is not just about waiver, but about new concepts and alternative means of transport to relieve the streets in times of climatic changes. The approach is based on the three keywords avoidance, relocation and improvement, so bmv.de .
For Wolfsburg, this means that sustainable city and traffic planning gain in importance. Funding programs such as Mfund support cities and municipalities in the implementation of projects that aim to promote efficient and environmentally friendly mobility. The development of pedestrian zones and continuous bike paths as well as the use of electrically operated minibuses are important steps in this way.
The city of Wolfsburg is therefore required to further optimize its infrastructure and to find climate -friendly solutions that ultimately benefit all citizens. In this way, not only the quality of life is increased, but also a significant contribution to climate protection.
