New life for Rügen: Personal charging stations celebrate e-mobility!

On the picturesque island of Rügen, a lot is happening in the area of electromobility!

Ulf Steiner, who has been driving an electric car for four years, describes his frustration on the long missing e-charging infrastructure on Rügen. With the founding of Rügen Energie two years ago, it was made to fix these grievances. Local chairman Wolff supports the initiative and emphasizes the importance of a nationwide care for tourists and locals. The charging stations are available as an additional service on parking spaces to make the experience on the island as pleasant as possible.

innovative charging stations and planned extensions

The concept of Rügen Energy provides for the charging infrastructure to be implemented without the often criticized quick charging stations. The first charging station "Claudia" has already started its operation and offers a charging capacity of 22 kW at a fair price of 60 cents per kWh. Another eight charging points will soon be opened at the large car park in Hagen near the famous royalty chair. In the places of Lauterbach, Prora, Bergen and Sassnitz, new charging stations will soon be planned.

, however, the entire market for electric vehicles in Germany also shows a positive development. As explained ADAC , the selection of electric cars is increasingly wider, and the prices vary from less than 20,000 euros for models such as the Dacia Spring Electric up to premium cars over 80,000 euros. The growing diversity should make electromobility more accessible to everyone, and innovative financing concepts, such as auto-subscriptions, offer more flexible entry options.

sustainability and environmental protection in focus

The demands for more electromobility are also underpinned by the upcoming climate goals of the transport sector by 2030. From 2035, only climate -neutral new cars may be approved in the EU, which increases the pressure on the auto industry. Many manufacturers are required to invest in the sales promotion of electric vehicles and to reduce CO₂ emissions. These developments are not only important for industry, but also for consumers who are increasingly making environmentally conscious decisions.

The city of Rügen tries to use the needs of its residents and guests at the same time with this newly created charging infrastructure. The measures taken are a step in the right direction and strengthen the region. E-mobility not only offers a sustainable alternative to conventional drives, but also creates new opportunities for local economy and tourism, which is of great importance for the unique island of Rügen.
