AfD get-together in Güstrow: Experience politics up close on July 1st!

Things will soon be politically lively in Güstrow – the AfD is inviting people to an open get-together. On Tuesday, July 1st, from 6 p.m., interested citizens will meet in the billiards café “Zur Daisy” on DSF Street. The city representatives Peter Spanowski and Robert Neumann have invited people to this event, where current topics from city, state and federal politics will be discussed.

The AfD has invited some interesting guests to the event. Ulrike Schielke-Ziesing, a member of the Bundestag, will report on the latest political developments from Berlin. Alexander Tschich, the leader of the AfD youth of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, will also be on stage. He was chairman of the Junge Alternative until his group was dissolved in March. Together they will involve the audience in the discussion, with questions from those present also welcome.

Review of the Güstrow city council

The invitation to the regulars' table comes at a critical time for the AfD in Güstrow. Due to Petra Worm's resignation, only two AfD members remained in the city council. This development means that the AfD's parliamentary group status will no longer exist and the city parliament will become smaller. Against this background, the political climate in Güstrow is being monitored more closely, as the AfD received 25.1 percent of the vote in the last local elections, which should theoretically have secured it seven seats, of which only five were filled.

Looking a little further, the political landscape of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania shows that the AfD emerged as the clear winner in the local elections. According to information from NDR, the AfD achieved over 25.6 percent and was the largest faction in several district councils. In contrast, the SPD suffered significant losses and only achieved 12.7 percent overall, which is a historically poor result. The Left also had to accept declines and tried to develop new political momentum.

Variety of topics at the regulars' table

The regulars' table next Tuesday will also be a forum in which the AfD can represent its positions on issues such as the state government's planned ban proposal. In addition to political content, physical well-being will also be taken care of: live music and grilled sausages invite you to linger. The citizens of Güstrow can look forward to a lively discussion, which will certainly be exciting due to the upcoming local political challenges.

In summary, despite the internal turmoil and the decline in city representation, the AfD continues to have its finger on the pulse of politics and wants to be at the forefront of the political discussion in Güstrow. Anyone who closely follows political developments in the region should definitely not miss this get-together.
