In the event of an excursion to the Stargarder Bruch, the participants learn to distinguish different habitats and receive valuable insights into legally protected habitats. The Nordkurier reports that the physical well-being is also taken care of; Breaks and meals are included in the offer.
workshop details and registration
Participation in the workshop is free of charge for members of the federal government; External interested parties invest 20 euros. Registration is required and can be made by phone at Gordon Käbelmann at 0395 5666 512 or by email to [email protected]
The idea behind the biotope mapping is much more than just a hobby activity. In the state of Brandenburg, the biotope mapping is carried out uniformly in order to systematically record legally protected biotopes, FFH living space types and forest biotope types. The methodological requirements for this are recorded in the document "Biotop mapping Brandenburg Volume 1 and 2", which also deals with the evaluation of the FFH habitats. Further details on the methodology and the specific biotope types can be found on the website LFU Brandenburg
The importance of biotope mapping
Biotop mapping is not only an important topic in Brandenburg. In Bavaria, too, this practice has been carried out by the Bavarian State Office for the Environment (LFU) since the 1970s. The biotopes specially trained mappingers draw on cards and document their properties to get an overview of their spread and condition. From natural biotopes such as bogs to human -created biotopes - diversity is enormous. A uniform procedure enables the data to be compared throughout Bavaria. According to lfu bavaria , the legal protection of certain biotope types in the Federal Nature Conservation Act may not be destroyed or significantly impaired.
whether as part of the workshop in Neubrandenburg or at the comprehensive mapping work in Brandenburg and Bavaria - the data and knowledge from biotope mapping make a decisive contribution to the protection of our nature. Developing a good knack for dealing with this valuable resource is also the meaning of the workshop on July 5th.
