Bundeswehr exercise in Nadrensee: Soldiers cause confusion!

Nadrensee, Deutschland - An unusual sight was offered to the residents of Nadrensee, a small village in the Vorpommern-Greifswald, when a Bundeswehr truck parked in camouflage colors with a mounted machine gun between two yellow buildings. Lieutenant Colonel Andy Öhlschläger explained that the vehicle was used to secure access, while a unit of the supply company from the Jägerbattalon 413 from Torgelow opened its tents at an agricultural business. This measure is part of the exercise "blue griffin", which aims to train outdoors under real conditions.

Important for the troop is the supply of goods such as ammunition and diesel. These necessities are provided via a neighboring farm in Krackow, where a field kitchen was set up. Around 80 soldiers move through the forests and fields with 30 vehicles, bring their positions to farmers and use public roads for supply and pendulum trips. The goal is to merge with the urban infrastructure to avoid enemy education. Military vehicles are parked in halls for agricultural machinery to hide them.

confusion in the region

The presence of armed soldiers near the border caused regional confusion. Local residents expressed concerns about the noise pollution caused during the exercise, such as through a mountains that rolled through a village and disturbed the midday rest. Even the federal police were initially surprised by the situation. Lieutenant Colonel Öhlschläger, however, emphasized the need for this training for future use in built -up or forested terrain. The exercise was consistently evaluated, the company had the opportunity to test and test new strategies.

This exercise fits in a larger context, because the Division Fast Forces of the Army has completed intensive training in recent months. Among other things, this included the exercise "Kalter Sturm", in which military help was simulated for a NATO alliance partner after an attack on its territory. Soldiers formed in a battle association with various weapon types, supported by the Air Force with jets. Another big training took place in Crete, where around 200 paratroopers from several nations were discontinued.

future exercises

After the "Blue Greif" exercise, the next major exercises are already planned. The rapid forces division will carry out a comprehensive exercise with full group in Lithuania in the coming months. But first of all, it is important to use the experiences from this training. During the exercise, the soldiers had to deal with realistic challenges and logistics tasks, which should help them to optimize their operational readiness and collect valuable knowledge.

The region may still have to get used to the sight of the somewhat unusual activities, but the need for troops for intensive and realistic training is of enormous importance for the safety and operational capacity of our armed forces. It remains to be seen whether the insights in this “blue griffin” will trigger a relaxed acceptance in the future.
