20 graduates of the naval arsenal: training excellence in Wilhelmshaven!
In an impressive graduation ceremony on July 8, 2025, twenty graduates of the Wilhelmshaven Naval Arsenal successfully completed their training. These young specialists will now support the Bundeswehr, particularly at the Wilhelmshaven, Kiel and Rostock locations. There are nine graduates who were awarded top grades (overall grade 1 or 2). They were presented with special book prizes by Managing Director Rainer Sacher and Mayor Carsten Feist. The naval arsenal is not only the Bundeswehr's largest training facility, but also an important guarantor of the German Navy's operational readiness, as Chancenregion JadeBay states.
Every year, the naval arsenal offers around 110 training positions in six technical professions in order to train young talent in a diverse and future-proof industry. These professions range from electronics technicians for devices and systems to mechatronics engineers and IT system electronics engineers. Young people with a high school diploma who are enthusiastic about technology and science are particularly in demand among trainers. After completing their training, graduates have various career options, whether as a soldier or a civil servant.
The diversity of training in the naval arsenal
The diversity of training occupations is a key to a successful entry into professional life. These include:
- Elektroniker für Geräte und Systeme (EGS)
- Elektroniker für Informations- und Systemtechnik (EIS)
- IT-Systemelektroniker (ITEL)
- Mechatroniker (METRO)
- Industriemechaniker (IM)
The head of the Bundeswehr's largest training workshop, Philipp Schlomach, emphasizes that knowledge of mathematics, computer science and English is essential for electronics technician training. Punctuality, ambition and enthusiasm are qualities that are particularly valued. The naval arsenal attaches great importance to making training as attractive as possible in order to attract qualified specialists who will later secure the future of the navy.
Career opportunities after training
After their training, graduates have the opportunity to work in various areas of the Bundeswehr. This includes a military career with fixed career paths as a sailor, mate or officer, but also civilian career options in areas such as IT, environmental protection or legal issues. This is particularly interesting for those who do not only want to work in a military context. According to Testhelden, the Navy offers diverse career opportunities in a dynamic environment.
In addition, graduates can also complete a course of study parallel to their career training, which further improves their career prospects. The naval arsenal is not only a place for technical training, but also an important educational institution for the future viability of the German Navy. With a solid foundation in training, many dreams can be realized for young graduates, not only for the safety of German but also international waters.
