Abitur celebration in Bremen: 73 students with a dream grade 1.0 honored!

The school year in Bremen and Bremerhaven ended on July 2, 2025, and the anticipation of the summer vacation is clearly noticeable among schoolchildren. More than 2,000 young people have successfully passed their Abitur. The celebrations culminated when 59 graduates were honored by educational senator Sascha Aulepp (SPD) in the town hall. A total of 73 students were able to achieve the top grade 1.0, which certainly ensures proud parents and teachers. The nationwide average grade in Bremen was 2.39, a considerable value this year.

According to a current evaluation, which the KMK, the figures show that the services at the general schools, especially at high schools and integrated comprehensive schools, are consistently positive. A total of almost 1,900 pupils in Bremen were approved for high school, of which there were over 1,700. In Bremerhaven, the number was 486 approved students and 454 passed exams. The average grade in Bremerhaven was 2.45.

But not just Bremen and Bremerhaven sting. The Abitur is still highly valued at the national level. According to Statista, around 259,300 high school graduates successfully performed in 2022. Hamburg had the highest high school graduate quota, while Thuringia had the best diarrhea rate. In the last year of 2023, this was 4.6% and marked the highest value in at least 2010. This development throws a light on the various challenges that students in the individual federal states have to cope with. After all, education is a matter of the country and thus brings different requirements.

Many schools focus on enabling the students to focus on individual priorities. The possibility of dialing down subjects in the qualification phase gives young people more freedom to concentrate on their strengths. However, the different weighting of the grades makes it difficult to keep the high school grades between the countries comparable. In most federal states, the Abitur is stored after 13 school years, while some can complete it after 12 years.

With the coming summer vacation, it is time for relaxation and new adventures. In Lower Saxony, the students are now also on vacation, while the students in Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia have already broken up on the well-deserved holidays. The remaining federal states will follow until August 1st and thus start the well -deserved summer break.
