Bremerhaven in the magic of Christmas: fairytale markets invite you!

If you want to spend the pre-Christmas period in Bremerhaven, you can't avoid the atmospheric Christmas market. It opened its doors on November 24th at 6 p.m. and invites you to enjoy the contemplative atmosphere every day from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. until December 30th. The market will only be closed on December 24th, 25th and 26th. This makes it a wonderful attraction for everyone who wants to get in the mood for the festive season.

The atmosphere is characterized by over 70 stalls offering a colorful range of offerings: from delicious mulled wine to roasted almonds to handmade handicrafts, everyone will find something to suit their own taste. The over 500 decorated Christmas trees also give the market a fairytale atmosphere. Especially on the Advent weekends, the motto on Friday afternoons is “Welcome to the little Christmas world”, which is always open on Fridays from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. By the way, entry is free, which is an additional plus for many visitors. Nordsee-Zeitung reports that the location between Theodor-Heuss-Platz and the Great Church is particularly charming.

Attractions and program highlights

A special highlight this year was the Christmas parade, which started on December 1st and delighted the children with a visit from Santa Claus, who handed out small gifts. The atmosphere is also lightened by numerous attractions such as walk-in photo spots and a larger-than-life Advent calendar. Films like “The Little Lord” and “The Flying Classroom” can also be seen in the Passage Kino – and they are completely free. Weser-Kurier emphasizes that the events and program items in the “Little Christmas World” are particularly well received.

Of course, the festive performances are another highlight at the market: fire and laser shows as well as performances by entertainer Hans Neblung in the Great Church and the Bach Choir with its Christmas oratorio promise a varied program for visitors. Here the anticipation of Christmas comes to life noticeably.

Where to go by car and how to get there?

There are several parking options nearby for all drivers, including in the Columbus Center parking garage and at the Old Port. If you are more environmentally friendly, you can also use public transport: There are good bus connections from the main train station, including lines 502, 505 and 506. The Weser ferry also shuttles between Blexen and Bremerhaven, making the journey pleasant.

Christmas markets like the one in Bremerhaven have a long tradition and are highly valued not only by locals but also by tourists. The unique atmosphere, festive music and the tempting scent of Christmas spices bring people together and create a lively exchange over mulled wine and gingerbread. Cowonews emphasizes that such events are a real highlight of the German Christmas season.

So if you're in the area, it's definitely worth a visit. Because the Bremerhaven Christmas market is not just a place to stroll, but a place where the anticipation of Christmas comes to life!
