Bremerhaven box talents shine in the fishing port!

On July 13, 2025, an exciting open-air box event took place in the fishing port of Bremerhaven, which captivated the audience. Around 60 athletes competed against each other in the ring, and especially the young boxers were able to conquer the hearts of the approximately 500 spectators present. Among the participants were Nazar Yermash and Ali Zaher from the Weser Boxring Bremerhaven, who impressively demonstrated their skills. According to Sportschau it was a day full of excitement and sporting top performance.

Nazar Yermash, who comes from Ukraine, had started an impressive boxing career at a young age. With his coach Mohammed Zaher at his side, he reached the final in the U18 age and weight class up to 60 kg and was able to prevail against an opponent from Kiel. After only two years in boxing, Yermash already has a fabulous record of 12 wins from 13 fights. His goal is to take part in the German U18 championship in Cologne in November. Sport was a way for him to refuel and protect others - a remarkable motivation!

boxing as a new passion

Ali Zaher also celebrated a triumph at the event. Although his opponent did not compete in the final, his path to boxing was just as impressive. The 19-year-old switched from football to boxing at the end of 2024 and now trains seven days a week, and twice as much during the holidays. Zaher, son of the coach Mohammed Zaher, strives for the title of German champion and, despite his nervousness, focuses on his sporting goals. Like his father, who hopes that Ali also not neglected his school duties, is motivated and ambitious.

The event was organized by Marco Blome, who has been active at the Weser Box ring for 30 years. His task included the planning, structure and moderation of the festival. Blome is committed to promoting the enthusiasm for boxing, especially in the youth. He clears up with the cliché about beginners and creates conditions that guarantee a fair competition in the ring. With the support of coach Mohammed Zaher, who also plays an important role in boxing of the Eisbären Bremerhaven, the sport is becoming increasingly popular.

from basketball to boxing

The Eisbären Bremerhaven took the opportunity to test their skills in boxing in a special training session. On Thursday morning, the professionals trained in the Weser Boxring, which was a new experience for many players. Athletic trainer Sönke Hachmann ensured that the players got a good sweat, while head coach Mohammed Zaher guided intensive boxing exercises. The player Johnny Berhanemeskel expressed his enthusiasm for training: "I liked it very much". With such events it becomes clear how versatile the training of the polar bears is - the players take part in this special training despite the upcoming test games in Belgium.

The demand for boxing training in Germany is still high. For those interested, a number of cities offer the opportunity to immerse themselves in various boxing clubs. The platform boxing in Germany provides an alphabetically sorted list of cities with boxing clubs. Future boxers will find contact information, reviews and often also the possibility for free trial training. The list is continuously updated, which is an advantage for everyone who is interested in boxing.

in Bremerhaven, the excitement around boxing is felt and is alike in the enthusiasm of the athletes and spectators. Both the success of the young boxers and the innovative training approaches in the polar bears make it clear: boxing has a promising future here.
