On June 30, 2025, an exciting ice hockey event will make fans in Dresden cheer! On January 10, 2026, the Dresden Ice Lions will meet the Eisbären Berlin as part of the DEL Winter Games, which will be a crucial folk festival in the Rudolf Harbig Stadium.

As is well known, the anticipation is great, and not without reason: the kick-off is expected to take place at 5 p.m., and the experiences of the last few years already give hope for a record crowd. Over 30,000 spectators were seen in the stands at previous outdoor games, which only increases expectations for this event. In advance sales there are standing places from 29.90 euros and seats from 42.90 euros, with 2,000 season tickets having already changed hands.

Ice hockey in Dresden: A highlight in the DEL

The Winter Game takes place on the 39th main round matchday of the German Ice Hockey League (DEL), which is known to be the highest ice hockey league in Germany. The decades-long history of the DEL, which was founded in 1994, has deep roots in sport through teams like the Eisbären Berlin, who are record champions with 8 championships, and the various open-air spectacles in the past. The Ice Lions have already successfully hosted such games in 2016 and 2020, and the stadium's capacity of 4,412 spectators could now be exceeded.

“This is a flagship project!” – says DEL managing director Gernot Tripcke, who attributes the event a central role in the entire season. Coach Niklas Sundblad from the Eislöwen emphasizes the importance of the game for the team and the region. The fans can not only expect weather resistance, but also a live broadcast by Magenta Sport, which will capture the game scenes for all ice hockey fans.

The start of the season is already approaching

The excitement doesn't stay focused on the Winter Game. The Eislöwen will start the new DEL season on September 9, 2025 with a match against – surprise – the Eisbären Berlin. A few days later, on September 14th, the first home game against ERC Ingolstadt is scheduled. Meanwhile, the other matches are also very popular: immediately after the home game against the Ingolstadt club, the away game against the Löwen Frankfurt on September 18th will provide equally exciting moments.
