Anticipation is increasing for the new film adaptation of Mary Shelley's iconic work “Frankenstein”. The focus of the story is Victor Frankenstein, played by Oscar Isaac, and his creature, played by Jacob Elordi. Del Toro described the monster as his "patron saint" and emphasized his fascination with the character since childhood. These deep emotional bonds are evident in the adaptation, which seeks to illuminate both the scientist's and the creature's perspectives, reminiscent of del Toro's ability to create empathy for his characters. Similar to his Oscar-winning film “The Shape of Water,” the aim here is to strike a balance between gothic horror and understanding of the supposed monsters. The film will be shown in cinemas in Germany and Switzerland on October 23, 2025, while streaming on Netflix will be available from November 7, 2025.
