In a thrilling duel that took place in Cologne on October 2, 2025, the Kölner Haie defeated the Fischtown Pinguins Bremerhaven with a clear 4-1. The Haie played offensively from the first minute and laid the foundation for their victory.

Juhani Tyrväinen showed his teeth in the first minute of the game, but the first real chance belonged to Maximilian Kammerer, who scored 1-0 for the Haie after a follow-up shot in the third minute. Patrick Russell made it 2-0 with a wrist shot just five minutes later. Felix Brückmann once again proved why he is considered one of the best goalkeepers when he saved a shot from Bennet Roßmy in the ninth minute.

Dominates in the first half

The Pinguins from Bremerhaven increasingly found their way into the game in the first third, but Nino Kinder was denied twice by Brückmann, who kept the goal clean at the first break. The Sharks continued to increase the pressure in the second third and Valtteri Kemiläinen increased the lead to 3-0 in the 26th minute.

Bremerhaven, however, cared more about their own chances and had to accept two time penalties, which the Cologne team were unable to take advantage of. In the final third, Fabian Herrmann managed to score the next goal for Bremerhaven in the 47th minute. But the Haie overcame two outnumbered situations confidently and Oliwer Kaski made the Cologne fans celebrate with a power play goal in the 59th minute.

A strong home game

The number of spectators in the Cologne stadium was an impressive 17,136, who felt well entertained by this convincing home win. The referees Martin Frano, Christopher Schadewaldt, Tom Giesen and Patrick Laguzov had everything under control despite the intense game.
