Spyros Angelidis starts a new chapter: move to Asteras Tripolis!

Spyros Angelidis has now taken a new step in his career. After his time at SV Werder Bremen, where he was considered a great goalkeeping talent, the 20-year-old Greek left his contract with the Bremen U23 behind and will now play for Asteras Tripolis in his home country of Greece. The change was officially completed on July 2, 2025, and the contract runs until June 30, 2028.

Angelidis, who was born in Thessaloniki on January 28, 2005, moved to Werder Bremen in 2023 after previously taking his first footballing steps at PAOK Thessaloniki. In Bremen he regularly appeared in the professional team's training sessions and even took part in the Zillertal training camp, but he was denied a big breakthrough. Ultimately, he played in the regional league, where he appeared in a total of 29 games for the club's U23s. He was ultimately released by Werder in the spring of 2025.

New challenge in Greece

For Angelidis, the move to Asteras Tripolis is a new opportunity to establish himself in the men's division. The club has given him the necessary trust, which gives him the opportunity to develop further. Asteras Tripolis is one of the established clubs in Greece and therefore offers a good platform for young talent.

Angelidis also brings valuable international experience. He has already played for several Greek national teams. His most recent appearance was a friendly against Serbia, where he celebrated a 3-2 win with the U21s in June 2025. These appearances show that he is on the right path to making a name for himself in international football.

A look at the future

The move to Asteras Tripolis not only means a new beginning for Angelidis, but also the chance to compete with other talented players and develop further. With a height of 1.88 m, he has the physical prerequisites to be successful in goal. He also has a professional team at his side, the player agent NOAS Sports, who would like to support him in his career.

Meanwhile, Werder Bremen is likely to make a change in goal. Bremen are planning a new era with the Bulgarian goalkeeper Stefan Smarkalev, who won the DFB Cup with the U19s. The series of goalkeeper changes will also remain exciting for Bremen.
