The time has finally come: the open-air cinema season has opened and offers numerous opportunities for movie lovers to enjoy their favorite films in the open air. Whether with friends or family, the coming months invite you to make yourself comfortable with a good film.
This started on July 3rd Zeise Open Air in the inner courtyard of the Altona town hall. Cinema fans can expect a colorful mix of hits, surf films and sneak previews until August 31st. What's particularly pleasing is that the entire event is barrier-free, and physical well-being and warm blankets are also provided.
Film enjoyment in the city
It opens just a few days later, on July 16th film room open air in the Eimsbüttel city park. Performances are scheduled every Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday until September 6th. On Fridays they even say: “Cinema creates bridges, brings people together!”, because then there are free performances. If you want to sit here, bring your own blanket or chair, as there is no fixed seating available. Headphones will be distributed so that everyone can enjoy the film undisturbed.

The opening takes place three days after the filmRaum Open Air, and to celebrate the day the musical “Mamma Mia!” on an impressive 12x6 meter screen. Two screens that show different films at the same time ensure plenty of film adventures.
Cinema in unusual places
But that's not all. The initiative ElfFilmArt brings open-air cinema to special places in the west of the city, such as in Jenischpark or on the Elbe beach. Surprises are also planned for the Mitte Altona district, although the exact program has not yet been determined.
And in September the Binnenalster Film Festival will take place, where the screen floats on the water. However, the exact dates for 2025 are still pending.
