Experience inclusion together: Duoday 2025 brings companies and talents together!

Hamburg, Deutschland - On May 22, 2025, the now seventh Duoday took place in Hamburg, an event that promotes the inclusion of people with disabilities into the world of work. The day offers the possibility that people with disabilities take a look behind the scenes of companies and spend a working day together with an employee. The aim is to bring both the participants and companies closer to the skills and potential of these people. The Senate coordinator for the equality of people with disabilities, Ulrike Kloiber, places great value on this initiative and supports duoday as a patron. According to hamburg.de, almost 150 companies took part and thus achieved a really large participation.

The event on June 19, 2025 in the Chamber of Commerce was another important point in the agenda for inclusion. Here companies shared their experiences from Duoday and reported on how they benefited from the perspective and the skills of the participants. The Duoday is not only an opportunity for people with disabilities to get to know different professional fields and work environments, but also to discover new specialists for employers. A colorful mix of offices, care facilities, logistics companies and small shops was there this year. Companies are convinced that diversity is not only an advantage for society, but also ensures its own development and creates new ideas and income potential.

The background: including the world of work

According to the current reports of Aktion Mensch, however, it can be seen that there are still challenges in the general labor market situation for people with disabilities. The unemployment rate rose in 2023 compared to the previous year, and more and more companies are not fulfilling their legal obligation to deal with people with disabilities. After 15 years of entry into force of the UN Convention on the Rights of Disabilities, there is still a lot of room for improvement.

But something happens: The Duoday as a platform offers a promising approach to improve this situation. Due to the direct exchange between people with and without disabilities, barriers are broken down and new perspectives open. In many cases, the duos that are formed on this day can pave the entry into internships, training or even permanent positions.

A call to participate

The State Working Community of Workshops for People with Disabilities organizing Duoday encourages companies and interested parties to get involved in the coming years. A look at the Alsterarbeit reveals that the event is a valuable experience for both the participants and companies. If you are interested, you are welcome to contact the organizers.

The duoday helps to bring the inclusive society closer. Every step counts, and together you can move a lot.
