Saxony is celebrating: Kristina from the village is bringing back Saxon culture!

Today, October 10, 2025, you can look forward to an exciting guest on the MDR talk show Riverboat. Kristina vom Dorf, better known as “SachsenMuddi”, will share her stories and experiences with the audience. She has made a name for herself with over 100,000 followers on her social media channels such as YouTube, Instagram and TikTok. Your mission? To give the Saxon character a powerful voice that is not hidden but shows a proud presence. She is also known for her books in which she discusses the cultural peculiarities of Saxony.

Her latest work entitled “Sächsisches Allerlei” is particularly exciting. In it she combines stories and recipes from Saxon cuisine, in collaboration with the renowned professional chef Jörg Färber. If you want to conjure up a piece of Saxony on your table, you should definitely pick up this book.

Tradition and identity

The Saxon dialect is more than just a language - it is an expression of the culture and identity of the Saxony region. On the website deutschsaechsischuebersetzer.de we find out more about the diversity of these dialects. Felix Schneider, a linguist with over ten years of experience in dialect research, emphasizes how valuable the Saxon language is in everyday life. The different dialects, such as Erzgebirge and Vogtland, help to strengthen regional identity and reflect cultural peculiarities.

A German Saxon translator ensures that these unique linguistic nuances are conveyed precisely. Because not only the dialect itself, but also the region's sense of humor plays a major role in the daily life of the Saxons.

Cultural customs and traditions

Easter time has a special significance in Saxony. The tradition of Easter riding, in which a procession between Bautzen and Hoyerswerda announces the message of Easter, is one of them. The death of Jesus Christ on the cross is commemorated on Good Friday, followed by the repose of the grave on Holy Saturday. The highlight of the celebrations is Easter Sunday, when the resurrection of Jesus is celebrated. The festivities are accompanied by a lovingly laid table with delicious dishes such as lamb, rabbit and sweet Easter bread.

Traditions like these show how vibrant the culture is in Saxony and how it connects the community. A look at the regional customs not only promotes an understanding of Saxon life, but also a feeling of belonging.

Experiences on the roller

But personal stories also enrich the image of Saxony. So we look at Phillip Maaß, a carpenter from Saxony-Anhalt, who lived according to the rules of Walz for three years and two months. This traditional trek is intended for unmarried, childless men under the age of 30. During his journey, Phillip often spent the night in the open air, showing courage and perseverance, even in freezing temperatures of up to minus 18 degrees.

With a positive outlook on his experiences, he encourages other craftsmen to follow this path. He has now found a new home in the Fulda district, near the Thuringian border, and looks back on the years of apprenticeship that shaped him.

Saxony is close to our hearts, and with stories, traditions and experiences like these it becomes clear that the region with its culture and way of life is very popular.
