Judo inspires: ALBA Cup in Boizenburg sets an example for youth sport!
Last Saturday the ALBA Cup took place in the Richard Schwenk Hall in Boizenburg, an event that is all about youth sports. Organized by AlBa 93 Boizenburg, around 70 young athletes from our own club and over 200 participants from the entire Northern Germany region took part. The event marked the first children's competition in over six years, long delayed by the pandemic-related pause.
The management of AlBa 93 has set itself the goal of offering the children a positive and motivating experience. “We want the children to enjoy sport and learn important values such as discipline and respect,” explained a club member. To underline this, the entry fee was deliberately set low to enable many children to take part. Particularly noteworthy are the self-designed medals, which are manufactured to high quality and have a high recognition value.
A strong sense of community
Judo not only promotes physical fitness, but also the personal development of children. You will learn how to fall without injuring yourself and experience support and friendships beyond training. To ensure safety during the competition, ASB paramedics were on site - a sign of the good organization of the event.
AlBa 93 lives not only from the sporting activities on offer, but also from the voluntary commitment of its members. Many coaches get involved without having children of their own in the club and thus ensure that the club remains strong and regionally rooted. The club's philosophy aims to develop children through real experiences without putting pressure on them. A summer training camp in Greifswald, which has been offered for almost 20 years, offers young judokas the opportunity to concentrate intensively on the sport and have a lot of fun at the same time.
Future of the club and new projects
The ALBA Cup 2025 was a complete success both in terms of sport and organization. Many of the children taking part had their first competition - a step that not only strengthens the self-confidence of the young athletes, but also consolidates the club as an important figurehead in the judo scene. In order to pay the trainers more fairly, the club management is planning to change the trainer's remuneration.
In addition to judo, AlBa 93 is also involved in other sports, such as volleyball, and is always open to new offers. The club's team is grateful for the support of the helpers who were crucial in the preparation and implementation of the ALBA Cup and continues to call for help to organize future events.
How Hesse Judo reports, the Hessian Kata couples recently presented themselves very successfully at the German Kata Championships in Freital. These successes underline the broad and strong community of judo sport in Germany. “We see again and again how important community and support are in sport,” said a coach from AlBa 93. “We want to convey that to our children too.”
