Fatal accident on the B110: motorcyclist dies after collision

On Saturday afternoon there was a tragic traffic accident on the B110 between Jarmen and Tutow in which a 36-year-old motorcyclist was seriously injured. As the SVZ Reportedly, the collision occurred west of Jarmen, shortly after the intersection with the district road from the direction of Loitz/Bentzin. The motorcyclist was overtaking with his Suzuki when an Audi car unfortunately swerved to the left without noticing the oncoming machine.

The impact was violent: the motorcyclist crashed into the rear left side of the Audi and then left the road, colliding with a guardrail. Both drivers knew each other well and are from the region, which makes what happened even more tragic. A delay in medical assistance occurred because another emergency had to be treated in Jarmen at the same time. Firefighters who happened to pass by the scene of the accident took over the resuscitation of the injured driver. A specially trained firefighter actually managed to revive the man, but despite help, the motorcyclist later died in the Greifswald University Hospital.

Statistical backgrounds

Accidents like this are not isolated cases. Statistics show that motorcyclists have a significantly higher risk of serious injuries and fatal road accidents than car drivers. According to an analysis by the Motorcycle Online Over 28,000 motorcyclists had accidents in Germany in 2019, with 542 losing their lives. The data shows that motorcyclists are more than four times more likely to be killed in an accident than car drivers. Caution is particularly advised in June, a month with the highest number of accidents.

As the ADAC accident analysis shows that over a third of motorcycle accidents are solo accidents, with dangerous driving errors and excessive speed often being the causes. However, collisions with other vehicles, especially cars, account for the majority of accidents. Overtaking errors and inadequate speed are particularly common factors.

A reminder to all road users

This should be a reminder for all road users, especially motorcyclists, to pay more attention to road safety. Protective clothing, regular safety checks and driving safety training are essential measures to minimize the risk. The proposed infrastructure measures, such as cutting back vegetation and installing directional signs, are also important to increase safety on the roads.

In view of the tragic events, it is important to mourn the loss of the motorcyclist and to reconsider your own driving style. Every second counts, and being aware of the physical limits of your vehicle can save lives.
