Ganschow Mare Parades: A festival of horse breeding celebrates 30 years!
The Ganschow mare parades took place last weekend and it was a real festival for horse lovers! Moderated by Friedhelm Mencke, who has since owned the private stud, the spectators welcomed an impressive herd of around 100 horses in brilliant weather that galloped freely across the parade ground. This event, which this year celebrates the 30th anniversary of the Ganschow Stud, delighted not only the spectators, but also the animals themselves, with mini ponies from the Sauerland being on display for the first time, the sight of which triggered sounds of enthusiasm among the visitors. Nordkurier reports.
The mare parades are not only a first-class opportunity to present your own breeding, but also a major attraction. Mencke, who took over the stud farm from the Treuhandanstalt through a management buyout in 1995, has since developed the stud farm into a recognized breeding facility. It currently houses around 200 Mecklenburg and Trakehner horses and attaches great importance to breeding quality. This year's parades expect top-class presentations, including 20 displays with equestrian sports, breeding successes and show.
A highlight of the event
A particular highlight was the traditional two-horse quadrille, which Mencke organized with 16 teams - i.e. 32 horses. The whole event attracts participants from various federal states, including many from Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and Westphalia. The next edition will take place on July 13th and 19th, with farm tours starting at 9 a.m. and sales events for riding and sport horses starting at 10:30 a.m.
In addition, visitors can look forward to a varied program. In addition to the displays, there were also pony rides and various sales shows. It's also a great family opportunity as the parades feature a raffle for a three-month-old Mecklenburg filly named Melody.
Commitment and recognition
Friedhelm Mencke is honored for his life's achievements and commitment to horse breeding. He has been the breeding district chairman for 20 years and has worked tirelessly to promote horse breeding. His achievements were particularly highlighted by Katja Brune, a respected judge and breeder.
A special innovation this year is the installation of a special stand for wheelchair users, which makes the event accessible to everyone. Such an initiative shows that Mencke has a good grasp of the needs of its visitors and promotes inclusion.
We can't wait to see what the next few days of the event bring. There is great anticipation for the upcoming parades!
