Big Art Night in Güstrow: A festival for all the senses on October 2nd!
On October 2, 2025, Güstrow will once again be transformed into a creative center - the 24th Art Night invites all art and culture lovers to discover the diversity of the local scene. As in previous years, this time too there will be an impressive program that will delight young and old alike. The Art and Antiquity Association Güstrow e.V. organizes an event with numerous cultural institutions that is designed for a broad audience. “Art, music and surprises” – that’s the motto, and expectations are high!
With a total of 30 organizers, a diverse offering is presented, ranging from musical performances to upcycling workshops to puppet theater and exhibitions. The Wollhalle Municipal Gallery also shows the exhibition “Dreams in Young Art”, which was designed by talented students from the Rostock district. Barbara Wolbring, who leads the “Art and Design” advanced course at the John Brinckman High School, actively supported her protégés. New this year are the “Fotografie” gallery with the works of Uwe Seemann and the “Dat Billerhus”, which presents pictures by Horst Bastian.
Diverse cultural offerings
The official starting shot for the art night will be at 6 p.m. at Franz-Parr-Platz. Various performances are planned here, including that of the symphonic wind orchestra and a band project by the Brinckman High School. Ben Sands will take the stage at 8:15 p.m. Visitors can get into the mood in advance from 4:30 p.m. at the pre-opening in the Hageböcker Mauer and the performances by the participating institutions. In order to satisfy small appetites, the Rotary Club Güstrow ensures culinary diversity, with the proceeds from sales going to the children in the Children's Youth Art House in Güstrow.
A special highlight is free entry for all young people up to 18 years of age. For everyone else, entry wristbands are available in advance for 11 euros and at the box office for 16 euros. A barrier-free design of the venues and family-friendly offerings round off the pleasing overall picture. Further information about the art night can be found on the event website: kunstnachtguestrow.de.
A review and outlook
Last but not least, the art night looks back on a successful 23rd edition in 2024, which celebrated a great success with over 1,200 visitors. Güstrow museums, eight galleries and other cultural institutions contributed impressively to the liveliness and diversity of the offering. The exchange with guests from the twin town of Bûres-sur-Yvette also set a special tone.
Preparations for this year's art night are already in full swing. In collaboration with the Güstrow public order office, everything was carefully planned to ensure everything ran smoothly. Cultural life in Güstrow is enjoying growing popularity again after the challenging times of the Corona pandemic, which is also proven by current statistics that document the recovery of cultural institutions - a good sign for the future of local culture.
The long tradition of art in Güstrow, anchored in institutions such as the museum and the Ernst Barlach Theater, shows that the city has a lot to offer. The cultural offering will continue to play an important role in the quality of life of residents and is part of the broader cultural movement in Germany that is slowly regenerating after the pandemic.
For art enthusiasts, the art night in Güstrow is a fixed date in the calendar - and an opportunity not to miss the works of local artists and the atmospheric atmosphere. Further details about the art night can be found in the article by Northern Courier and the official information about the event can also be found on the homepage of the Art and Antiquities Association.
