Horse & Dog: Thousands of spectators celebrate victories at the MeLa tournament!
The coveted three-day “Horse & Dog” jumping tournament took place as part of the Mecklenburg Agricultural Exhibition (MeLa), which attracted thousands of visitors with a bizarre supporting program and exciting competitions. Due to its diverse offering, the event was already in its 34th edition and thrilled many horse lovers in Mühlengeez. Again Northern Courier reported that more than 67,000 guests flocked to the site and enjoyed the hustle and bustle.
What would a jumping tournament be without the brilliant highlights? The highlight of the tournament was the Grand Prix, a top-class 150 cm competition in which 21 starters ultimately took part. Six of them performed flawlessly in the round, but only five competed in the jump-off. Nele Kortsch decided to protect her horse and was certainly a wise decision. However, Manuel Prause from Löbnitz (Saxony) secured victory with his 16-year-old horse Cadillac in an impressive 41.12 seconds.
The winners and their achievements
This was a very special moment for Prause as it was his first victory in a three-star competition. Felix Ewald from Brandenburg and Christoph Lanske, who finished as the best from Mecklenburg, followed the other podium places. The other participants, including Holger Wulschner and André Thieme, also showed thrilling performances in the Grand Prix. Wulschner rode an eight-year-old mare named Vega de Laubry Z and Thieme introduced the ten-year-old Last Gentleman.
But that's not all! Manuel Prause was also ahead in the first 140 cm competition. He won this test with his nine-year-old horse Charli B and took third place with Cadillac. Richard Robinson from Steffenshagen didn't want to hide in the shadows and came second in the 140 cm jumping.
Dressage and more
The versatility of the event was also reflected in the dressage. Ronald Lüders triumphed in the S class dressage freestyle with a great score of 76.02 percent, leaving Susanne Voß (71.87 percent) and Ina Schmidt (67.80 percent) behind. The Horseweb highlights that there was also a lot on offer in the area of dog sports, including a rousing agility tournament that attracted many visitors. The combination of the agricultural fair with top-class horse and dog sports was a complete success.
The event was rounded off by almost 900 exhibitors Northern Courier mentioned. The overall picture of MeLa offered a welcome opportunity for visitors to discover new products and information about agriculture.
