Celine Michaels: Germany's best speaker from Dömitz!

Celine Michaels from Dömitz secured the title of best speaker in all of Germany in the national “Youth in the Bütt” competition. The 13-year-old, who attends the “Fritz Reuter” high school, made the audience laugh with her amusing story about a failed cruise trip with her parents. Last year she came second in the same competition and her continued dedication is finally bearing fruit.

To best prepare for the competition, Celine trained every day for three weeks. She learned almost four pages of text by heart, because facial expressions and gestures are just as important as the right words in the hand-written speech. Her passion for cruising helped her develop an entertaining story and impressed the entire jury. On November 15th she will be on stage again at the Kulturhaus, where the 71st season of the Dömitzer Carnevals Club (DCC) will open.

Competition with tradition

The national competition “Youth in the Bütt” is a platform for talents and creative minds in the carnival. Solo artists, duos or groups aged 6 to 21 can take part. The competition is not only an opportunity to show off your skills, but also to promote carnival culture and enable exchange between young artists. The international preliminary rounds took place in various regions of Germany: The preliminary round for the East was held in Berlin on May 24, 2025 and attracted numerous talents. The grand finale took place on October 26, 2025 in Hof, where Celine prevailed against strong competition.

Many are hoping for exciting performances and a successful season for the proclamation of the DCC prince couples, which will take place on November 15th at 7:30 p.m. Celine also plans to apply again for the “Youth in the Bütt” competition, but has not revealed her new theme yet. There is great anticipation for her next performance, and with her carnival talent she has demonstrated a good knack for further success.

A home in carnival

For Celine, the love of handmade speeches runs in the family. Her parents are also enthusiastic carnival fans, which contributed to her becoming a member of the Dömitz Carnevals Club at the age of five. The DCC offers her a platform to continuously demonstrate her talent and to further develop herself in the carnival field. Celine's performances not only put you in a good mood, she also represents the young generation of carnival speakers and shows how much fun the carnival feeling can be.

Celine thrilled the audience with her original style and truly deserved the title. The future looks bright for the talented speaker, and we can look forward to her next steps in the carnival. Who knows, maybe she'll bring the next amusing story to the stage soon!

We congratulate Celine Michaels on her impressive success in one of the most traditional events of the German carnival. Their commitment and creative talent are an enrichment for carnival culture.
