Kita Hummelest in Cölpin: New hope for the risk of closure!
The Neubrandenburg district council recently scene of intensive discussions about the future of the "Hummelest" daycare center in Cölpin. Around 20 parents and educators followed the political debates with great concern, since their daycare center, which has had a permanent place in the village and in the heart of the families for over 30 years, has been faced with the withdrawal of the operating license by the youth welfare office. From January 2026, this step could lead to closure of the facility and tear to the 77 cared for children from their usual environment. The parental unrest is also reflected in the non -existent alternatives: Many parents have to accept long distances to accommodate their children in Neubrandenburg facilities, which is still exacerbated by weak bus connections in the rural region.
The 42 -year -old building of the daycare center has significant defects - from dilapidated sanitary facilities to dilapidated water pipes to electrical problems and defective windows. Department Michael Löffler expressed that the health of the children was endangered by these conditions. In this context, Mayor Joachim Jünger questions the financial means of the small community. He estimates that a new construction of the facility would cost around six million euros, a sum that is not wearable for Cölpin.
** possibilities for the future **
The Löffler suggestion is a ray of hope: a module building could be realized quickly for about two million euros. This cheaper alternative could save the daycare center and thus guarantee the necessary support of the children. The costs for this new building could be divided between the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, the district and the community, which would be a financially feasible solution.
While the discussions in the district council continue, Jugend- und Socialwerk gGmbH (JUS) as the carrier of the daycare center emphasizes its decades of efforts to preserve the "bumblebees nest". The association has tried to renovate the daycare center with funding for seven years. However, the estimated costs of almost four million euros for the comprehensive rescue of the ailing building can simply not be broken. In the meantime, the JUS 16 daycare centers have established over 1800 care places and is therefore one of the largest non-profit organizations in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.
** An important building block of early childhood education **
Regardless of the discussion about the structural and financial aspects, the importance of the "Hummelest" daycare center for early childhood education should not be underestimated. The facility scores with a family atmosphere, an age -appropriate care offer for children from 1 to 10 years and close networking with the community. The children have the opportunity to actively participate in community festivals and visit to local companies and clubs. The individual interests and topics of the children are always discussed, while the educational concept of the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania is striving for high-quality support in order to counteract social disadvantages and to support opportunities for opportunities.
If the "bumblebees nest" daycare center remains in its form, it will not only secure its place in community life, but will also lay the foundation for the future development of the children. "Hummelest" offers a valuable basis that, as many experts think, is crucial for the first years of life of the children.
