Neubrandenburg immerses itself in two weeks full of culture and action!
The next two weekends in Neubrandenburg promise a packed program of events with something for every taste. The city celebrates from June 19th to 22nd with a variety of events, attracting not only locals but also numerous visitors. A special highlight of the events is the “Women in Architecture” architecture festival, which takes place on Thursday, June 19th, from 1:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. The focus of this event is on Eastern Modernism and the city architect Iris Grund. Here, anyone interested can take part in free lectures, panel discussions, guided tours and film screenings and gain an insight into the important role of women in architecture.
But that's just the beginning! The Architecture Salon starts on Friday, June 20th and is dedicated to the visibility of women in architecture. On the same day, a citizens' picnic will take place on Brodaer Strand from 6 p.m., where live music and fire bowls will create a relaxed atmosphere. A beautiful ambience is also expected on Saturday, June 21st, when the city center of Neubrandenburg invites you to stroll. Over 150 shops are open from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and offer plenty of entertainment for the little ones with children's entertainment, soap bubble art and the “Kinderkram” flea market. In addition, a book flea market will take place in the regional library from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., and Café International invites you to exchange ideas on the occasion of Open Society Day from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Musical diversity and sporting highlights
Another treat on Saturday is the Fête de la Musique, which will delight with music and performances on five stages from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. This international event, which was launched in Paris in 1982, is now considered a platform for artistic diversity and cultural participation. The fête has been celebrated in Germany since 1995 and captivates musicians in over 140 cities on this day. This year, choirs such as the Vocal Harmonies, the Queen Bees & the Beat and the Hanns Eisler Choir will be performing in Berlin from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. visitberlin.
The sporting highlights are also not missing. On Saturday the 32nd international sitting ball tournament will take place in Neubrandenburg in the sports hall from 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., in which athletes from different countries will compete against each other.
The last weekend of June and more
The last weekend in June, from June 27th to 29th, promises several thousand guests. There are open-air concerts in the culture park with artists such as LEA, the Rammstein tribute band Stahlzeit and Johannes Oerding. On the same day, Bundeswehr Day will be celebrated on the grounds of the Fünfeichen barracks and the market square from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Here visitors can expect a program with demonstrations, exhibitions and military technology.
On Saturday, June 28th, there will also be artist talks and a curator's tour of the photo exhibition “The Big Schwof” in the Neubrandenburg Art Collection at 3:00 p.m. The monastery night in the Franciscan monastery begins at 6:00 p.m. and runs until 1:00 a.m. with church tours, readings and live music. For the younger ones there will be a children's program and a film screening of "Narziss & Goldmund", while a swimming event can be watched at Tollensesee.
Overall, Neubrandenburg has numerous exciting events coming up over the next two weeks. There is definitely something for every taste! The city would like to set an example for community and cultural diversity, in the tradition of the Fête de la Musique, which is not seen as a sign of peace and openness for nothing fetedelamusique.
