Burglary alarm! Unknown looters are closed in Mestlin - branch closed!
In the night of July 24, 2025, the “Nahpauf” branch in Mestlin came to a brutal slump that causes excitement regionally. The alarm triggered at 1 a.m. and woke up the market manager Dana Hoffmann, who then drove to the branch with her husband. What they found was a picture of terror: the personnel entrance door was open and the traces of the perpetrators testified to raw violence.
It is a particularly difficult case, because the burglars had targeted the treasures of the market. According to the initial investigations by the police, the perpetrators tried to penetrate a side door, but could not be successful. Instead, they left massive damage: two defective doors, a devastated office and demolished technical devices. The cash register system is now unusable, and not only that - the safe was cleared and another was taken.
The traces of crime
Preventive alarm management seems to have failed in this case: the cables for the alarm siren were cut. The branch will remain closed on Thursday, the reopening has so far been uncertain. The police have already secured the first traces and investigates due to particularly severe burglary theft , which according to Section 243 (1) of the Criminal Code of StGB can be punished with a prison sentence of six months to ten years.
The results of the investigation shows that burglary theft in Germany is the severe case of theft that requires violent penetration into a building. This is reinforced by the penetration into the market by e.g. physical violence or aids. The perpetrators obviously intended to illegally stole a strange movable cause. These legal aspects could play a role in the upcoming investigation.
The consequences for the community
The preliminary amount of damage amounts to around 12,000 euros, which not only means a financial loss for the local purchase in Mestlin, but also shakes the trust of the customers. After all, the local purchase is a central part of the community supply. "We hope that the market can be opened again soon," said Hoffmann. "It is terrible what happened here."
The police ask the population for help. Anyone who noticed the suspect on the night should urgently report. It is important to take the perpetrators as soon as possible and thus restore the feeling of security in the village. In addition, this incident shows how important preventive measures are to prevent such crimes.
we can only hope that the market will soon be accessible again and that the residents of Mestlin can do good business again - without fear of attacks.
