Parchim celebrates a big opening: New Goethe School sets standards!
Parchim, Deutschland - On July 4, 2025, an important chapter was opened in the educational landscape in Parchim: The regional school "Johann Wolfgang von Goethe" experienced its ceremonial opening and is the largest construction project that the city has stood on its own in recent years. From the school year 2025/2026, around 350 students will be taught in 18 classes. The new building, which is located on a formerly military area, offers a modern learning environment with 16 classrooms and ten specialist rooms and is therefore a real ray of hope for the region.
The overall investment for the project amounts to an impressive 26.9 million euros, of which over 14.1 million euros were made possible by funding. After the symbolic groundbreaking ceremony on March 14, 2022 and the topping -out ceremony in March 2023, the construction work was highlighted. Mayor Dirk Flörke ceremoniously handed the new premises to the headmaster Peter-Michael Dreeser and paid tribute to the achievements of everyone involved, who were always committed despite challenges such as Covid-19, the Ukraine decline and inflation.
modern learning environment and digital learning
A highlight of the new building is the light -flooded atrium, which serves as a central place for school events. The entire building is equipped with digital plates, which is important as part of the digital pact 2.0. The digital pact, which was decided by the federal and state governments in December 2024, aims to improve the digital infrastructure of the schools and create a future -proof learning environment. Because at a time when digital skills are becoming increasingly important, it will be essential for schools to introduce innovative teaching aids. The Federal Secretariat is investing a total of 6.5 billion euros in new devices and the expansion of network infrastructures in order to promote equal opportunities in education. More information can be found here: BMBF .
The color concept of the new building is based on Goethe's color circle (red, orange, yellow), which gives the building a friendly and inviting character. The outdoor area is also appealing: In addition to Tartan sports fields and play equipment, the students can also find relaxation on green areas.
a center for education and inclusion
With the new building, not only the educational infrastructure is improved, but space for inclusion is also created. Barrier -free entrances, an elevator and tactile control systems ensure that all children have unrestricted access. The building blends harmoniously into the children's education center (Kibiz), which is in the immediate vicinity of the adjacent daycare center.
In the coming years, it is also planned to have the old school building in Wallallee 1, which was built in 1890, to make room for a primary school, a after -school care center and a cafeteria. The entire educational concept in Parchim will be set up sustainable and future -proof.
