Parchim fights for bypass: Less noise and less traffic!
Parchim, Deutschland - How often did the residents of Parchim want, the traffic level in the city center would not be that high? Exactly this problem has been employing the city representatives for years. In a meeting last Wednesday, the parliamentary groups confirmed independent citizens for Parchim (UBFP), CDU, SPD and Linke their common desire for a bypass to reduce the traffic load. Mr. Andreas Schaudschwerdt, parliamentary group leader of the UBFP, emphasized the urgency of such a project in order to reduce both traffic and the associated noise pollution.
The persistently high sound immission pollution is not only an environmental problem, but also a health problem, as described in Parchim. Road traffic noise is the predominant source of noise in the city and is associated with negative effects such as dust and vibration loads. Time is ripe to contradotate about this and to improve the quality of life.
set a sign for traffic development
Mayor Dirk Flörke (CDU) clearly supports the resolution and underlines the importance of a bypass for future traffic development planning. There is currently only one heavy -duty bridge over the Elde at the MC Donald’s intersection. If this bridge is blocked, Parchim would be completely cut off from heavy goods traffic. A scenario that should be prevented.
The resolution, which the city representatives passed unanimously, is also intended to send a signal towards the federal government that the construction of the local bypass remains in the urgent federal transport route plan. The city representatives have the hope that freedom of the federal investment could create new opportunities for implementation. The project is currently in the correction phase.
vehement arguments for a bypass
Sebastian Langer, the SPD parliamentary group leader, pointed out the risks that the current flow of traffic brings with it. He referred to successful examples of other cities that could benefit significantly by implementing local bypasses. The planned project provides to connect the federal roads B321 and B91 in a semicircle outside the city, which not only relieves traffic, but also contributes to the general improvement of urban development.
Of course there are still delays when weighing up the route view - here the result is probably no longer available in 2025. But the determination of the city representatives is unbroken. Parchim is at a turning point, and for the citizens it is now said: there is something!
The noise action planning pursues the clear goal of minimizing harmful noise effects and improving the quality of the urban habitat. Among other things, measures such as speed restrictions and the development of an integrated noise reduction strategy should help to get the noise pollution under control.
So it remains to be hoped that the efforts to avoid the bypass will continue to intensify in the coming months and may soon be visible.
