International criminal arrested on Rügen – successful search!

An exciting weekend for the Federal Police. Again Northern Courier reported that an internationally wanted criminal was arrested on Rügen. The 35-year-old Pole apparently had a hard time with the law: the Swiss authorities had him in their sights for robbery, burglary, receiving stolen property and various violations of narcotics and weapons laws.

In Bergen auf Rügen, the police checked the man and quickly arrested him. After his arrest, he spent some time in custody in Stralsund, where a judge confirmed that his deprivation of liberty would continue. Switzerland was immediately informed about the arrest, so that nothing should stand in the way of the criminal's extradition.

Additional arrests

But that wasn't everything! Two other Polish citizens and a 42-year-old Bulgarian woman were also taken into custody as part of the same operation. The Bulgarian woman was arrested at the Pomellen border crossing and was wanted on an arrest warrant for robbery. She was handed over to a prisoner collection point in Berlin.

A 76-year-old Pole, on the other hand, was wanted in Löcknitz for endangering road traffic while under the influence of alcohol. After paying a fine of 300 euros and covering his repatriation costs to Poland, he was deported. A third 31-year-old Pole was pulled out of a coach on the A11 near Pomellen and had an arrest warrant for failing to appear at a main hearing. He was released after appearing at the district court.

International cooperation

The case shows how important international cooperation is in fighting crime. The Federal Criminal Police Office Stresses that Interpol, the organization founded in Vienna in 1923 and based in Lyon, France, can significantly increase the effectiveness of the fight against international crime. With now 196 member states and a robust information sharing network, Interpol is an essential link between national police authorities.

Different types of alerts such as red, blue and green alerts not only make it easier to arrest wanted people, but also promote the exchange of information about criminal activities. These mechanisms are essential for national and international security.

The values and principles that guide Interpol are also reflected in the way they work. How Interpol itself explains, the organization employs over 1,000 people from 138 countries worldwide, which promotes a respectful and diverse work environment. This international network is important not only for the police officers sent directly by their countries, but also for the international officers hired by the organization.

The complex cooperation between countries in the fight against crime is further strengthened by the experience and competence of the employees. Respect, integrity, excellence, teamwork and innovation guide all officers in their work and keep us all safe.
