Pasewalk's big anniversary: 775 years celebrated with a year full of highlights!
A very special year is beginning in Pasewalk: the city will celebrate its proud 775th anniversary in 2026. At a time when tradition and community are valued more than ever, Pasewalk invites all citizens to become part of the celebrations. Numerous events are planned from January to December that reflect the diversity and cohesion of the city's society. The festival begins at the peak of the year with a big festival weekend from September 4th to 6th, which is complemented by a colorful parade that will run for about four kilometers. [Nordkurier].
A creative team of five working groups takes care of the details: from planning the parade to special cultural events in the city center. Over 200,000 euros are needed to set up the festive activities, with 90,000 euros already planned in the 2025 budget and 110,000 euros needing to be raised as funding. The anticipation is palpable, and numerous clubs and companies are showing willingness to actively participate.
Diverse events for everyone
The anniversary year in Pasewalk will be full of highlights. In addition to the already mentioned festival weekend, events such as the Cuirassier Ball on April 18th, the museum festival on May 17th, and the celebration of the 130th anniversary of the engine shed on July 18th will bring the city to life. On October 3rd, the 30th anniversary of the partnership with the 411 Panzergrenadier Battalion in Viereck will also be celebrated. [Pasewalk.de](https://www.pasewalk.de/775-jahr Feier-pasewalk/) emphasizes that citizens can also actively participate in the organization of the celebrations by suggesting or helping to organize their own events.
A citizens' workshop on March 20, 2025 will also help to actively involve urban society. Here, Pasewalkers have the opportunity to contribute their ideas and suggestions. The planned anniversary calendar will cover all activities so that everyone has the opportunity to take part in the events.
History and identity
City anniversaries like the one in Pasewalk not only serve to celebrate milestones, but also offer a wonderful opportunity to redefine the city's identity. Culturelab emphasizes that such events can strengthen a sense of community. The focus is on citizen participation – they are turning the anniversary into a real community project. The city's history is honored, the present is celebrated and a bridge is built into the future, which is what makes the entire festival year so important.
A special initiative is the creation of a commemorative publication entitled “My Story with Pasewalk – Memories of Pasewalk”, in which personal experiences and anecdotes from citizens are collected. Contributions can be submitted in digital or physical form, which creates a personal connection to the city's history.
The symbolic wish for an anniversary queen Luise also underlines the charm and authenticity of the festival year. Applications are warmly welcomed and candidates must be between 18 and 34 years old.
Preparations are in full swing and the city is determined to celebrate its anniversary in style. But more than just festivals: it's about sustainable impulses for urban development and coexistence in order to further strengthen Pasewalk's identity and to actively shape the future.
