Rostock shines on the MV day: New, art and culinary delights!

Rostock, Deutschland - On June 17, 2025, Rostock will present itself at the 15th Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania Day in Greifswald as an impressive combination of a attractive travel destination and innovative home. This event not only celebrates the 775th birthday of the University and Hanseatic City of Greifswald, but also the 35th anniversary of the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. During the two -day event on June 21 and 22, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., the downtown Greifswald becomes a lively scene with over 90 exhibitors and programs in twelve subject areas that present the best in the region.

It is particularly exciting that the Rostock & Warnemünde tourism center inspires visitors with a variety of offers. Accommodation and exciting events are advertised here, including the popular Hanse Sail and Warnemünde Woche. However, the highlight of the Rostock presentation could be the presentation of the new food supplier "Die Mittagsmatrosen" GmbH, which will take over public school catering in Rostock from summer 2025. On this occasion there are also taste samples for visitors.

culture and sport in focus

Another interesting program item is the exhibition in the Kunsthalle Rostock, which takes place on the occasion of the 60th birthday of FC Hansa Rostock. This traditional football club, also known as "Die Kogge", has a huge fan base not only in Rostock, but throughout Germany. Hansa Rostock is one of the most successful clubs from the former East Germany and has the greatest response in Germany with over 29,000 members. The club history is characterized by ups and downs, such as promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga 2021 and the latest relegation to the 3rd division in the 2023-24 season, after various years in the Bundesliga and the 3rd division. Wikipedia emphasizes that the fan base and the club history were plagued by hooliganism, but the cultural and sporting relevance of the club remains undisputed.

The Zoological Garden Rostock, the largest zoo on the German Baltic Sea coast, also becomes active at the MV day and offers hands-on activities and play stations that deal with the important topic of species protection.

A look into the future

For the Greater Rostock region with over 460,000 inhabitants, there is also the opportunity to learn more about career opportunities. The Welcome Center Region Rostock will offer free advice for newcomers and shows how complex life is here. The University of Rostock will also introduce itself under the motto "Tradition, Innovation, Diversity" on the meadow on Schützenstrasse and thus strengthen the Rostock educational location.

The anticipation for the event is already noticeable. In the past, Rostock, as host of the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania Day, has already recognized himself in 2004 and 2018 and is now looking at another successful participation that will strengthen the feeling of togetherness in the region. A successful interaction of education, culture, sport and tourism - that promises an eventful weekend for all visitors!
